The campus will also feature a 1,200-seat theatre, available for community access. We have also planned for things like a four-panel senior class mural where students can paint their story of their journey through high school and many locations for 2D and 3D interchangeable art installations. Media is infused throughout campus in a state-of-the-art A/V system capable of broadcasting music, interactive LED lighting and digital displays celebrating the arts and Compton’s prestigious broadcast program. For the community, the pride and legacy of Compton will be honored as the next generation takes its place in the success stories yet to be written. For teachers, the facilities will be a tool, standing future-ready to support teaching and learning. For students, this means the opportunity to succeed in their coursework through facilities that support relationships, exploration and engagement. The main goal of the project is to set the stage for success in all manners of speaking. The design solution centers around keystone shaped learning suites that support project-based learning, student exploration, and general instruction. The campus will serve approximately 2,500 students, with construction scheduled to begin in 2019. The project incorporates community access, flexible spaces to support STEAM classes, ample athletic programming, and a brand new performing arts center for the community of Compton. The project is an opportunity to set a new standard for educational excellence.Ĭompton Unified School District (CA) Project Creator DLR Group's design for a new Compton High School will transform the district's oldest high school campus into a 21st-century learning environment that elevates education for all Compton students and staff.
